Teaching the Way of Love for Parents

Teaching the Way of Love empowers parents to become the primary educators of their children.

There are three programs in Teaching the Way of Love: Embrace Parenthood, Growing in the Way of Love, and Bodies & Boundaries.

  • Embrace Parenthood presents the foundational principles for Catholic parenting to parents with children of all ages. Understand parental authority according to God’s design, learn how to foster faith in your family, parent the heart of your child by nurturing virtue, and more!
  • Growing in the Way of Love helps parents of children who are entering puberty to guide their sons and daughters from childhood to adulthood according to God’s plan. This program seeks to make parents knowledgeable and comfortable talking about the bodily changes that happen during puberty, the gift of fertility, and protecting that gift through the virtue of chastity. The program also helps parents to continue forming the kind of relationship that encourages their son or daughter to seek them out for conversations, even about difficult topics.
  • Bodies & Boundaries helps parents of young adults to further prepare their sons and daughters for adulthood. It shows parents how to strengthen the virtue of chastity, approach tougher issues in conversation, and nurture the young adult’s forming identity.

Home Study Program

Teaching the Way of Love is available to individual parents as a home study program. You can purchase online access to each of the three parts, which includes online streaming access to each video session and the “planning guide” for each session as a PDF download. You can also purchase online access to individual lessons. If you prefer to study offline, you can purchase physical DVDs and workbooks as well.

Webinar Series

Each year, Alice Heinzen and Jeff Arrowood present a webinar series to take the concepts presented in the Teaching the Way of Love program even deeper. These webinars are recorded and available online.

Our current live webinar series is “Necessary Conversations” in which we prepare parents to have conversations with their sons and daughters about difficult issues, such as sexuality, gender identity, pornography, bullying, and substance abuses.

Small Group Discussion Materials

While small groups may use the physical DVDs and workbooks, we also offer a more comprehensive service intended to help facilitate experiencing Teaching the Way of Love in a small group setting. For a single annual subscription, groups receive the entire Teaching the Way of Love program: all of the videos (downloadable and playable on your computer), printable PDF planning guides, group discussion questions, promotional materials, and online access for your group members so they can study from home.

Other Parenting Resources

In addition to Teaching the Way of Love resources, we also encourage parents to empower themselves with other great resources for Catholic parents.

Testimonials

I just finished the Become a Family segment you sent for review. I applaud both of you. I am so excited. I would call it Zeal!!!! I have been in parenting education for over 25 years in the secular world. Last year the Lord started calling me to take my gifts and apply them to my Catholic faith. I was starting to write a Catholic parenting curriculum and my eyes caught a blurb in a neighboring church bulletin announcing parenting classes. That is where I looked up yours. When I went to your website and saw Search Institutes developmental assets you sold me. I like informational sheets to back up your teaching. I am so excited and blessed to see such great work!

I recently purchased the Catholic Parenting Program “Embrace Parenthood” through From the Abbey’s Teaching the Way of Love Program. I highly recommend it. It is easy to read and understand and you can start making changes immediately. Every Catholic Parent needs this program, to help understand what their role is as a parent the way God intended. I also like that they offer the entire program to teach the whole Parish. Well done, God Bless!
